How does the Imacon film holder work?

The film holder is made from a piece of rectangular sheet metal and a piece of magnetized sheet rubber that are joined along the top edge. A hole slightly smaller than the film is cut out. To mount the film just insert the top edge of the holder into the scanner, peel back the rubber sheet, slip in the film and position it on the sheet metal, lower the rubber, and you are done! The film is held in place by the magnetic force pinching the rubber and metal together on all four edges of the film. No tape, glue, oil, gel, or glass. The built-in light box on the Imacon scanner helps you position the film. When you scan, the film holder is slowly pulled into the scanner with the right and left edges on the holder bent over two wheels causing the film to bend.
